We believe that fashion should be hands-on. Replacing the impersonal nature of factory production, we infuse care, respect and humanity into every hair accessory we make.

As we continue to learn and grow in this area, our efforts remain aligned with eco-focused manufacturing, ethical production of the highest quality and care for our craftspeople creating them.

ETHICAL PRODUCTION

Where are your hair accessories made?

In a world where the bottom line drives many manufacturing decisions, becoming more attuned to what goes into the products we buy and how these items are brought into the world has never been more important. Aligning with ethical production benefits all involved - from the manufacturer, to the artisans creating the goods, to you, the recipient of these exquisitly crafted hair accessories.

SUSTAINABILITY

The Slow Road To Quality

Quality over quantity is the philosophy that underpins every aspect of our slow, hands-on production process. We don't believe in fast and cheap. Nor do we sacrifice quality to cut expense. Yet, through this commitment comes the costly journey of being a slow fashion brand. As we value transparency and honest practices, we care about sharing the roadmap of how our efforts toward a sustainable production system works.

ETHICAL PRODUCTION

Our Slow Fashion Vision

Through our crafting process, we can closely monitor quality standards within the cozy quarters of our ateliers. We take pride in fostering an ethical and creative working space for our talented team of craftspeople supporting them and their families through our efforts in slow fashion.

Far beyond your standard hair accessories, our designs are handcrafted with precision and care in support of a larger vision for a sustainable future. A future nurtured through honest practices, ethical job creation with fair wages, safe working conditoins, and eco-focued product creation.

SIGNATURE HOLD

Our Proprietary Hold

Think all elastics are the same? Not even close. The result of years of testing, our proprietary elastics have been engineered to provide all-day hold, comfort and staying power, keeping the need for adjusting to a minimum. Some of our most commonly received 'Thank you' messages from clients are those from nurses and other healthcare professionals mentioning how they often reach the end of their day only to realize they hadn't worried about their hair or felt the need to adjust their Chelsea King hair tie.

Made of GOTS Certified Organic Cotton and natural rubber, our proprietary, special blend elastics are designed for best hold and comfort - and Protect your hair with perfect hold.™ This innovative elastic is also heat treated and chlorine-resistant so it stays intact during all-day wear, workouts and swims.

ECO-FOCUSED MANUFACTURING

Quality Eco-Focused Manufacturing

From our hair ties and signature scrunchies to our hair claws, hair clips and combs we strive to deliver the highest quality hair accessories that we not only feel great wearing, but also feel good about owning.

For our hair ties and scrunchies this starts with our proprietary GOTS Certified natural cotton/rubber elastic designed to Protect Your Hair With Perfect Hold™. From there we move to fabric selection. When possible, we use fabrics incorporating natural fibers and/or recycled fibers. Our 'upcycle' collaborations are another example of this, wherein, partnering with other eco-minded companies, we are able to work together to rescue fabric remnants or repurpose garments not otherwise destined for retail

Next, there’s the nature of materials used. We only use premium-grade textiles including natural cottons, hemp, satin, silks and bamboo used in many of our hair tie and scrunchie collections. For our Claws, Clips and Combs we use a Bio-Acetate made of 70% wood fibers. Not only does this ensure its biodegradability, but it creates a strong and more beautifully finished product over cheaper plastic alternatives.

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY

Putting Value Before Cost

Although more expensive for us, we take enormous pride in our efforts to continue our commitment to crafting our products ethically and sustainably. We don't believe in fast and cheap. Nor do we sacrifice quality to cut expense. Yet, through this commitment comes the costly journey of being a slow fashion brand. As we value transparency and honest practices, we care about sharing the roadmap of how our efforts toward a sustainable production system works.

The first step: we work hard to source the best materials, with a focus on eco-friendly and sustainable fibers. Following that, the fabric is transformed into Chelsea King products by our talented sewers in the small and tranquil environment of our local ateliers. Next, there’s the creative process, whereby our sewers and craftspeople use delicate techniques to create the finished version. As our hair ties many of our other accessories are crafted by hand, no one item is ever exactly identical because we’re not a factory. Rather, we’re a creative space that employs people, who to us, are like family.

FUN FACT...

Did you know that we use our very own, special blend elastics in our scrunchies and elasticated product? Our proprietary elastics are one of the key ways our hair ties -

Protect Your Hair With Perfect Hold.™

Upcycle Initiatives

We love collaborating with other eco-conscious brands through our upcycle fashion initiatives. By rescuing fabric remnants or repurposing slightly imperfect garments we're giving them a new purpose and journey.

A few of our favourites include:

Jillian Harris - Imagine Perry, and Tofino Towel Co.

In The Press...

As seen on the Today Show, the Marilyn Denis Show. Fashion icons like Alessandra Ambrosio, and some of our favourite publications like Vogue, Allure, Cosmopolitan, and more.
